Whole Foods Market 5% Day for WPE Helps Feed Contra Costa County

On October 17, seven Contra Costa Whole Foods Market stores, including the 365 by Whole Foods, donated 5% of their net sales, or $31,000, to White Pony Express (WPE). What a big day!

Whole Foods Market generous 5% Day donation paired with the 2,220 plus pounds of fresh food WPE rescues daily from local Whole Foods Market stores plays a vital role in helping WPE feed more than 80,000 people each year — that’s 70% of the population in Contra Costa County that's living in poverty. But, the numbers are personal and it is shared work that uplift lives.

Amber Parker, Marketing Manager for Community Engagement & Events for Whole Foods Market, remarked:

"We are so pleased to have raised these funds from our seven stores to support White Pony Express. I think this shows the community’s support for White Pony Express and the amazing work that they do in Contra Costa County. Our shoppers all live here and it is very evident with this support that they choose to give here as well."

Thank you, Whole Foods Market, for being WPE's largest food donor and to the local stores in Dublin, Fremont, San Ramon, Lafayette, Walnut Creek, and 365 by Whole Foods in Concord, for being part of 5% Day and making it possible for WPE to rescue and redistribute food to our Contra Costa neighbors in almost every zip code of the County with love!
