New volunteer orientations happen
every Saturday at 9 am and every Sunday at 11 am
at our distribution center at 3380 Vincent Rd. #107, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523
WPE Food Rescue Distribution as always needs regulars! Join us weekend or weekday mornings from 8:30a until 10:30a to sort our huge variety of foods into bountiful baskets for our many recipient organizations serving populations in need. Please reach out to volunteer@whiteponyexpres.org if you wish to join the Food Rescue distribution team. This opportunity is open to individuals and groups.
White Pony General Store currently needs a wide variety of support, shopping, stocking, organizing, beautifying clothing and creating ensembles. Some urgent needs include hosting our volunteer workshops and managing the loading dock. These opportunities are available opportunities right now. If you wish to support the Free General Store as a volunteer, please reach Danie@whiteponyexpress.org. This opportunity is open to individuals, and small groups of 2-4 people. Drop in General Store workshop hours are Mondays/Tuesdays/Wednesdays from 3-5pm.
Butte County Food Deliveries on Sundays and Mondays: Support our initiative to continue food and meal delivery to 400 families in Butte County. If you wish to be a part of this initiative, are able to drive or navigate on these trips and can spend a whole day volunteering, please reach out to Danie@whiteponyexpress.org. This is open to individuals and small groups of 2-4 people.
Upcoming Pop-Up Boutique on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019: White Pony General Store will need your help to host the Unity in Community Mobile Boutique. We will be joining Delano Johnson from All-n-One on Saturday, June 22nd at the Ambrose Community Center, 3105 Willow Pass Road in Pittsburg/Bay Point. This is a vibrant event that celebrates the rich diversity of the Bay Point community. Families learn about local services and resources from community organization booths and live entertainment is provided. Hold a Donation Drive: White Pony Express is looking for volunteers to hold a family, community, school, club or any group drive for items to build Care Kits and Backpacks for the homeless we serve in Contra Costa County through our 70 recipient organization partners who serve our community directly. This opportunity is perfect for groups and we can conduct the “Pack Out” at your group/corporate location or at White Pony Express.
Our Young Ambassadors play a vital role in representing White Pony Express at local events and functions across Contra Costa County, such as the Food Rescue Program and our White Pony General Store. They help give their time, skills, and hearts in support of our mission of delivering the abundance all around us to those in need.
Duties and Responsibilities: Tabling events at high school and college fairs, providing presentations about White Pony Express to high school and college clubs, coordinating and assisting with young professional mixers, host volunteer events at White Pony Express, representing, promoting, and raising awareness of White Pony Express, research and locate new community groups and engage them to join a project with WPE, promote our backpacks and care kits projects to the community.
Family volunteer opportunity for parents with their children under 12. It’s a fun arts and crafts project, a pleasant way to introduce children to service and to spend quality time with them. The end result will be a lovely little gift bag of a couple of travel size necessities, like dry shampoo, lotion, soap, mouthwash, and a few candy kisses. Parent(s) can help their child(ren) put the little bag together with a synthetic flower and bow.
There will be colored pencils, markers and stickers for them to decorate cards to send a sweet message to the recipient. This is our way of trying to go beyond the food and goods, and add a special touch of love.
Our JUNE dates for family volunteering will be Sunday, June 16th (Father’s Day!) from 10:30am -12pm and Saturday, June 29th from 10:30am-12:00p at our distribution center at 3380 Vincent Rd. #107, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523
Current Internship Openings:
- Community Engagement Intern will be primarily responsible for drafting, distributing and recording thank yous, and a wide range of other creative appreciation projects.
- The General Store Program Intern will be primarily responsible for gathering and organizing data on our current partner beneficiaries of WPE clothing and items distribution. It is important for WPE to better understand the needs of our partners and the individuals they serve so we may better support their specific needs.
Summer Distribution Program in Richmond with Building Blocks for Kids: We are looking for volunteers for 6 weeks this summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12pm to 1pm at the Belding Garcia park in Richmond to support the summer food distribution program. This opportunity starts on Tuesday, June 11th through Thursday, July 18th. Perfect for individuals, small or medium sized groups. Please reach Danie@whiteponyexpress.org to sign up to volunteer.
Volunteer at the Walnut Creek Arts & Wine Festival on Saturday June 1st and/or Sunday, June 2nd. The volunteer times will be slotted in 2-3 hour shifts between 10 am and 7 pm both days. We will have a large pop-up tent and atable to promote WPE, alongside one of our White Pony Express vehicles parked on premise. Aside from this normal event presence, we will additionally be needing volunteers to staff and support the Children’s Play Area throughout the event on Saturday and Sunday.
