Food Rescue Spotlight: Helen Jones
It takes many people to assure that our Food Rescue program runs smoothly 364 days of the year and one of those dedicated individuals is Helen Jones.
Helen started in Food Rescue as a Dispatcher and in short order it was apparent that her experience as a law enforcement dispatcher and multitasking mother of three would come in very handy interacting with, and coordinating, the many people and moving parts that are required to come together in a busy seven-day-a-week operation.
We were fortunate that Helen was able to add more time to her business schedule for White Pony Express and she was willing to take on additional responsibilities right at the time we were expanding.
Helen made the shift from Dispatcher to Assistant Operations Manager last summer and in December 2018 she was promoted again to become our Operations Manager working under the direction of Jeff O'Hearn, the Food Rescue Program and Operations Director.
In her expanded role, Helen manages the dispatching functions, mobile grocery events, and is in charge of Food Rescue operations on the weekend, as well as helping to facilitate the seamless transitions from our weekends to the weekday crews.
Jeff says "I am so pleased to be able to confidently leave weekend operational responsibilities in Helen’s capable hands. We meet frequently to ensure successful deliveries and distribution for our donors and recipients, and together with the rest of the team, we look for ways to continually improve and expand the program.”
In addition to her new operational responsibilities, Helen also helps out with volunteer orientations, scheduling, posting on our Facebook page, and auditing the monthly food weight tracking reports. For those who've had the pleasure to work alongside Helen, it's clear her talents and dedication to White Pony Express are evident in everything she does.
Thank you for being such an important part of our team!
