White Pony Express (WPE) is on the move… delivering three times as much food each day and reaching pockets of need across the County with deliveries of fresh, nutritious food, clothing, and love.
In order to keep up this vigorous, around-the-clock pace, we promoted one of our Driver Coordinators, Gary Bostick, to Manager of our Distribution Center (DC).
The DC welcomes two large volunteer shifts 7 days a week and processes giant pallets of food – and it has never run more smoothly! Gary recognizes the remarkable work of the team and regularly calls it out. His wholehearted dedication to WPE’s mission is deeply appreciated.
Steve Lopez and Luisa Iniguez are two other examples of walking the talk and embodying “all of us taking care of all of us”. They were recently welcomed to the Driver Coordinator Team, and if you have met them, you know why! Luisa enjoys working (and singing!) with WPE volunteers. She shows initiative and interest in all-things-operations.
Steve also has many strengths – most notable is his “yes”. He will always stop what he is doing to help someone and will stay late if it means easing someone’s burden.
WPE’s beloved team member, Helen Jones, has also accepted a more public-facing position.
Helen is WPE’s first Strategic Projects Manager, a critically important role as we are being called to serve specific vulnerable populations in deeper ways. Helen oversees our School Pantry Initiative and in the coming months will focus our work on underserved seniors and others who are homebound and isolated and recently immigrated families. Her responsiveness and organization make Helen well suited to manage our new initiatives and ensure we have the data needed to show WPE’s impact on the community.
And last but not least, we are thrilled to welcome Lauren Militello as our new Development & Communications Associate. Lauren has jumped right in, helping to manage our growing community of supporters and using her incredible flair for storytelling to share WPE’s impact with beauty and intention. We are grateful for the energy and enthusiasm she brings to the team!
