Big news!
We were thrilled this week to receive an Excellence Grant Award from the Lafayette Community Foundation to support Food Rescue program deliveries to low-income senior neighbors in Orinda and Lafayette.
As is the case with many seniors in our community, these seniors live on small fixed incomes with tight monthly budgets and often have little to no access to fresh fruits and vegetables. Like all of our Food Rescue recipient partners, these seniors have come to count on weekly deliveries from White Pony Express filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, cheeses, breads, and more to cook their daily meals from breakfast to lunch and dinner.
Currently our White Pony Express Driver-Coordinators deliver to food insecure seniors at Chateau Lafayette and Orinda Senior Village as well as Eden Housing in Lafayette and Eden in Orinda. This grant from the Lafayette Community Foundation will help support this important recipient group of our Food Rescue program.
