Our Food Rescue Program addresses a problem that every food market faces: what to do with surplus fresh food. WPE picks up high-quality unsold food and delivers it to over eighty organizations seven days a week. These organizations serve low-income families, isolated seniors, our unhoused neighbors, individuals with special needs, foster youth, new immigrant families, and other marginalized populations.

The Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN) program will help thousands of food insecure people by providing us with a new food donation model. WPE currently receives food donations from over 100 organizations that provide large quantities—often pallets!

Food Rescue and the Truth about Expiration Dates
The “food culling” work helps us ensure that only fresh food is distributed to the agencies we serve. Your commitment to our standard – only sharing with our neighbors what we would serve to close family members – is exactly how we grow our reputation as a dependable source of fresh, healthy food.
