Our 5th Unity in Community Event Shines!

Updated: Aug 20, 2019

On Saturday June 22, the White Pony General Store participated for the 5th time in Bay Point’s Unity in Community event coordinated by Delano Johnson from All N One at the Ambrose Center.

We welcomed 263 children and 282 adult guests. Guests shopped from a full boutique of clothing, shoes, accessories, books, and educational toys. Items from this boutique came from a variety of donors, including our partner, Soles4Souls, who donated beautiful new coats for men, women and children, through their Clothes4Souls program. Soles4Souls creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world.

At the end of the day we distributed over 10,000 items to 540 Bay Point neighbors. Our Food Rescue team distributed 3,800 pounds of fresh nutritious food through the free mobile grocery.

Pulling it all together, over 150 volunteers came together to bring joy to the event and the community. Henkel Chemicals Company invited their staff to spend their workday at Ambrose and were instrumental in our unloading and reloading of the trucks. And volunteers from our community Food Share partner Starbucks also lent helping hands volunteering to help in the mobile grocery activities.

In addition, to the White Pony Express activities, there were several tables offering information to Bay Point community members about local services and job opportunities as well as live music and entertainment.

Thank you to everyone who participated!

We so appreciate the help of all the volunteers and team members who work every day to make these events such a great success.
