Up to 40% of the food produced in the U.S. is wasted annually. It would take redistributing only 30% of this wasted food to meet the total dietary needs of every food-insecure person in the nation.

Short and long-term health outcomes of being food insecure include birth defects, anemia, cognitive problems, behavioral problems, anxiety, and aggression.
