White Pony Inn
The White Pony Inn is not a structure made of bricks and mortar. The Inn is a safe place created by the loving care of our volunteers who flexibly use professional skills and life experiences to assist those who are facing a variety of life’s challenges, including homelessness.
In 2016, WPI worked with the Free General Store to provide new cold-weather clothing for the homeless population throughout the county. That project is expected to continue annually. WPI is investigating how it can best provide other needed services such as transitional residential space provided by the community. Following the example of other White Pony Express programs, WPI is hoping to partner with other providers, creating a consortium to meet the many basic needs of our most underserved population.
If you are an individual or family in need of local health or social service assistance, please call “211”. If you place your call from a (925) area code, you will be automatically routed to the Contra Costa Crisis Center. The CCCC also offers an extensive online database of available services, provided in both English and Spanish, here.
The White Pony Inn is currently in pilot phase, and working with a limited number of individuals.
