White Pony Express is an ALL-volunteer organization. We depend on the generous gifts of time and energy from members of our community to uplift and support our friends in need. Many of our volunteers find their time with WPE to be the highlight of their week. Volunteers help pick up and deliver food, process clothing and toy donations, provide management skills, assist with important administrative tasks and clean equipment and our distribution centers.
As a 100% volunteer organization, WPE offers opportunities for selfless service to people of every age and skill level. Orientation and training are provided. We need volunteers on an ongoing basis for both Food Rescue and Free General Store programs. Sign up below!
Our most-needed volunteer roles are:

Groups and Volunteer Partnerships
For groups, we offer one-time opportunities to help with Mobile Boutique events or to attend pre-scheduled activities or workshops at our distribution space:
– Food Distribution –
Groups are welcome to join our daily food distribution by helping sort and distribute our morning deliveries, or by helping us keep our vehicles and clean.
– Boutiques –
Our Mobile Boutiques are held at faith sanctuaries, community centers, and schools throughout the county, and generally occur at least once a month.
– Workshops –
Held at our workshop at
3380 Vincent Rd. in Pleasant Hill.
Mon – Wed, Sat: 3 to 5pm
Saturday 9am – noon
– Regular Shifts –
Groups may also choose to sign up and share weekly volunteer shifts, assigning a different member to a delivery “run” once a month. Couples and families often enjoy going on these food runs together. Picking up food from venues such as grocery stores and farmers markets and delivering it to our recipients provides a tangible, and direct means of helping those in need.
We love building partnerships with groups looking for a hands-on way to give back to the community. We are happy to customize volunteer opportunities for corporate “Volunteer Days” or other occasions.
